There are various reasons to practice in our Yoga space, Shala Mandala. We are surrounded by nature just a few steps from the sea

Our Shala is very large and welcoming, managed by teachers with twenty years of experience in the discipline. The Shala also has hosted various international yoga and meditation events, with students coming from 45 different countries. Last event was the Vipassana Meditation course, according to the tradition of S.N. Goenka.
Yoga is a philosophy of life that has in its potential also that of creating a strongly healthy body and mind. At Shala Mandala we practice Ashtanga Yoga Mysore - also known as yoga therapy.
Ashtanga Yoga, practiced in its correct sequential order, gradually brings those who practice it to fully rediscover their potential at all levels of awareness-physical, psychological, and spiritual. Through this practice that combines correct breathing (Ujjay pranayama), postures (Asana) and gaze (Drishti), one obtains a control of the senses and a deeper awareness of oneself. By practicing this discipline with regularity and devotion, one acquires physical and mental security and stability.
All students are welcome every morning at 6: 30 - 7: 00 in the morning.
A WEEK ARE MADE 6 LESSONS WITH ONE DAY OFF
Workshops are scheduled in the afternoon depending on the weekly program.
Teacher:
Elena De Martin teaches and directs in Milan La Yoga Shala, one of the most important yoga schools in Italy.
She holds seminars in Italy and abroad and has achieved one of the highest awards from the "Sri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute" in Mysore, the Level 2 authorization for teaching Ashtanga Yoga. Elena meets Ashtanga Yoga in the late 90s. From 2000 she went to India where for the first time in 2001 she met Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute he founded. Desiring to deepen sher yogic experience at the source of tradition, from 2005 her stay in Mysore intensified studying for long periods under the teaching of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, her daughter Sarasvati and her nephew R. Sharath Jois.
Elena lives for a year in India where she integrates her yoga asana studies with Sanskrit, Philosophy of Yoga, the Scriptures and their Chanting under the guidance of the Indian masters M.A. Jayashree and M.A. Narasimhan. Her constant travels in India always keep alive in her that passion and love for yoga that has given so much to his life and that he shares with his teaching every day. Parallel to the Ashtanga study, in 2001 he approached the Vipassana Meditation, according to the teaching of the teacher S.N. Goenka, whose regular practice has helped to give greater awareness to the path of research undertaken through yoga.

Simona has lived and traveled in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America for work and study. Grown up in her grandmother's house in Reggio Calabria, next to the Mission of the Sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, she became interested in spirituality from an early age. In 1998 while studying fashion design in Milan, she approached yoga and oriental practices, but the practice deepens in 2006 thanks to the meeting with Yoga Niketan and Manuela Toso, student of Swami Yogeshwarandand Paramhansa, founder of Yoga Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, in India. In 2008, Simona left her job as a designer in the fashion industry, starting her first long journey in India, crossing the subcontinent with a motorbike from South to North, settling in Varanasi where she deepens her knowledge of Hatha Yoga, and devotional singing: Dhrupad. In 2010, Simona took part in the first Vipassana meditation and in 2011 personally met and followed the teachings of H.H the Karmapa in Sanrath and H.H. Dalai Lama in Daramsala. During her stay in India, she took an active part in the life of the Missions of the Sisters of Charity of Mother Teresa in Calcutta. After leaving Asia in 2012, Simona returns to work as a designer and lives in London and Los Angeles, studying with Ashtanga Yoga teachers Mysore Hamish Henry and Noah Williams, both of whom received an advanced teaching certification from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, one of the greatest Yogis of the 20th century. In 2016, Simona returns to India to Mysore, to KPJAYI where she begins the learning path under the guidance of ParamaGuru Sharath Jois.

I am a beginner, can I participate?
Of course! Our classes are open to all levels, especially to those who want to start a yoga path while on vacation.
 
Do I need to bring my yoga mat?
Our space provides mattresses, for practice, however we ask you to bring your from home, for your personal hygiene.
 
Do I have to book before to arrive?
It is not necessary to book the yoga course before coming, but if you want to communicate it to our email, you will help us to better organise the classes.
 
Do I have to be a customer of the Borgo degli Ulivi to participate?
Our shala of yoga is open to all.
